Lauren Coleman
Meet Miss Lauren! Miss Lauren teaches Petite, Primary, Secondary, and Teen classes this season.Miss Lauren has been teaching dance and acting to kids and adults of all ages for about 15 years, and she has loved every minute of it! She graduated from Oakland University with a B.A. in Theatre Performance and a Minor in Dance, and completed her acting internship at Meadow Brook Theatre. While at OU, she was a member of Oakland Dance Theatre, had many of her dance pieces performed in concert, was nominated for the American College Theatre Festival’s Irene Ryan Excellence in Acting award, and competed at the ACTF regional festival. In addition to teaching, she has directed and choreographed for numerous youth and professional theatre and dance productions all over the Metro Detroit area. She also works as an audition coach and has helped many students reach their dreams of studying in some of the area’s most prestigious theatre programs, as well as performing in regional, touring, and Broadway shows! Miss Lauren also worked as a rehearsal director and acting coach for 4 annual productions of The Nutcracker. She even choreographs for the St. Clair High School marching band! Some of her previous directing and choreography credits include shows such as Les Misérables, Annie, Pippin, Beauty and the Beast, The Fantasticks, The Addams Family, Peter and the Starcatcher, Big River, Once Upon a Mattress, Crazy for You, Merrily We Roll Along, The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, Honk Junior, and The Comedy of Errors. You may also see her working as a stage combat choreographer, as a musician playing drums for various theatre productions around town, or doing Shakespeare online with the Sofa Shakespeare Company. She lives with her husband, Ryan, two daughters, Avery (10) and Emily (4), and one very sassy cat, Abby. Miss Lauren’s favorite treats are coffee, chocolate, and coffee-flavored chocolate! Her favorite activities are playing with her girls, reading, going to the beach, and having spontaneous dance parties with her kids.
